Student Support / Nexus
Support that is Built into the Classroom
Nexus provides embedded academic and executive function support, helping students build skills while remaining fully engaged in the life of the school.
Nexus is designed for students who benefit from additional support in areas such as executive functioning, organization, attention, or learning efficiency. Support is provided within the classroom, allowing students to build skills while participating fully in their academic experience.
Support That Is Not Separate
At many schools, support happens outside the classroom.
At Mead, support is embedded within it. Students participate in all aspects of school life—academics, arts, outdoor learning, and community.
Students receive guidance in real time—during reading, writing, math, and project work—so skills are developed in context and applied immediately.
Who Benefits from Nexus?
Nexus is a strong fit for students who:
- Are cognitively capable of engaging in a general education classroom
- Benefit from support with organization, focus, or executive functioning
- Learn best with structure, guidance, and reinforcement
Building Independence Over Time
The goal of Nexus is to help students develop the skills they need to become more independent learners.
As students build confidence and strategies, support evolves to meet their growing independence.
A Collaborative Approach
Nexus teachers work closely with classroom teachers and families to ensure that support is consistent, thoughtful, and aligned with each student’s needs.
